Welcome to Sagamore Golf, Inc.
Pioneers of Great Public Golf in New England since 1929

Way back in 1929, Sagamore Golf, Inc. established itself as a true 'pioneer of public golf' in New England by opening Sagamore Spring Golf Club in Lynnfield, Massachusetts, and becoming one of the very first daily-fee 18-hole golf courses north of Boston --- And now, 93 years later, our family's fourth generation is excited to carry Sagamore's long heritage well into the future. The great game of golf has come a long way since 1929, and so has Sagamore... Since day one, we've remained a popular public golf destination by staying committed to our goal of offering great golf, excellent value, and making sure our customers have fun and always feel welcome. We pride ourselves on knowing that so many golfers choose to play at Sagamore week after week, year after year, because they feel right at home and they have a lot of fun --- And for us, that's what it's all about!

All three of our locations are located within an hour of Boston, and they each offer golfers something special --- Sagamore Spring Golf Club (Lynnfield, MA) is the 'Grand-Daddy' of Sagamore, showcasing 18 uniquely wonderful holes in the heart of MA's thriving North Shore. Sagamore-Hampton Golf Club (North Hampton, NH) is located just minutes from NH's historic seacoast region, offering a fun, picturesque 18-hole layout that makes it a popular destination for many locals and vacationing golfers. The youngest member of the 'Sagamore Trio' is our Sagamore Golf Center (also in North Hampton, NH), which has been recognized as 'One of America's Top-50 Golf Ranges', featuring a year-round driving range with covered & heated hitting stations, one of NH's largest grass practice tees, short-game areas, Family Mini-Golf, and top-notch professional Golf Instruction for all levels!

Our Sagamore Golf Center is also a founding partner and home of The First Tee of New Hampshire, which is a wonderful global junior golf organization that teaches kids the great game of golf by bridging golf instruction and valuable life-skills --- If you have a youngster who may be interested in golf,

be sure to check out TFTNH's website and programs for more details.

SAGAMORE-HAMPTON GOLF CLUB

Recognized by Audubon International for Environmental Excellence

We'd like to congratulate and thank our entire Maintenance Team here at Sagamore-Hampton Golf Club for keeping up with the necessary standards to be recognized as an Audubon International Certified Golf Course. We're incredibly proud to be certified for our achievements in environmental sustainability (2018 to present), and we're fully committed to our organic maintenance program and continuing our progress as a steward to our property, our community and our environment as a whole.

What is the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses?

  • The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses (ACSP) is an environmental education and certification program that helps golf courses protect the environment, preserve the natural heritage of the game of golf, and gain recognition for their efforts.

  • Through collaborative efforts that started in 1991 with the United States Golf Association, membership in the ACSP has steadily grown to include more than 2,300 golf courses in the United States and 36 countries worldwide.

Audubon Certification Objectives:

  1. Enhance wildlife habitats on golf courses by working with the golf course superintendent and providing advice for ecologically sound course management.

  2. Encourage participation in conservation programs by golfers, golf course superintendents, golf officials, and the general public.

  3. Recognize the people who are actively participating in environmentally responsible projects.

  4. Educate the public and golfing community about the benefits of golf courses and the role they play relative to the environment and wildlife.

What Does this Mean for Sagamore-Hampton Golf Club?

  • In order for Sagamore to reach certification, our course must demonstrate that we are maintaining a high degree of environmental quality in a number of areas. These areas include Environmental Planning, Wildlife and Habitat Management, Chemical Use Reduction and Safety, Water Conservation, Water Quality Management, and Outreach and Education.

  • Sagamore-Hampton Golf Club is one of just five courses in New Hampshire to be certified, and we are the only course in the seacoast to hold this certification.

  • Globally, there only 900+ Audubon Certified Golf Courses, and Sagamore-Hampton Golf Club is incredibly proud to be recognized within this group

  • Both our staff and our golfers can take pride in knowing that SHGC provides significant wildlife habitat and is maintained in an environmentally responsible manner.

More Information on being 'Audubon Certified':

  • Demonstrate leadership among golf courses for their environmentally responsible management practices.

  • Show a strong commitment to long-term environmental stewardship.

  • Provide valuable green space for people and wildlife.

  • Participate with other cooperative sanctuaries across the country in providing habitat for migratory bird populations.

  • Conserve natural resources for future generations.

  • Serve as demonstration sites to educate golfers, the public, and golf course professionals about golf course management and the benefits of golf courses.

Richard Luff
Co-Owner & President, Sagamore Golf, Inc.

Richard is a fourth-generation Luff family member who got his start in the family golf business at the age of eleven, picking up trash in the parking lot and repairing ball marks on the greens, tasks he continues to do on a daily basis today. He has held every position possible at a golf course and that experience has not only made him an effective leader within the family business but in the greater golf industry and beyond. He lives in North Hampton, N.H. with his wife, Nancy-Jane. They are both relishing their recent empty nester status but still can’t find the time to improve their mediocre golf games. Richard is a past President of the New England Golf Course Owners Association and current board member of both The First Tee of NH and the Alliance of Massachusetts Golf Organizations. Richard also co-authored Ecological Golf Course Management.

Ty Sanborn

Co-Owner & Vice President, Sagamore Golf, Inc.
General Manager, Sagamore-Hampton Golf Club

Ty is also a fourth-generation Luff family member who has grown up with the family business and began working at the age of 14. Throughout his high school and college years, he spent his summers working with the Clubhouse & Grounds Crew teams at both Sagamore courses, and quickly developed a true appreciation for the family business and the great game of Golf. After graduating from Suffolk University in 1994, Ty knew that he wanted to contribute toward the future of the family business and joined the Management Team in 1995. He later became General Manager of Sagamore-Hampton Golf Club and joined Sagamore Golf, Inc.'s Board of Directors, and eventually became Vice President and Co-Owner of SGI in 2007. Ty has always thrived in the areas of customer service/relations, course design, business operations, and management, and has been instrumental in carrying out SGI's marketing and corporate identity efforts over the years. After nearly 40 years with the company, Ty still looks forward to each and every workday, and he's motivated by the same passion, work ethic, and vision that he proudly inherited from his forefathers. Ty and Richard have always shared a common vision for SGI, and their partnership has ensured that Sagamore's 95-year legacy will carry-on for generations to come. Ty is also an active member of the National Golf Course Owners Association, the New England Golf Course Owners Association, and the National Golf Foundation.
